Osyio,
Another Free Cherokee Spring/Summer Gathering has come and gone. We ate a lot, we sweated a lot (both in the sweatlodge and out), we prayed with the pipe, we beat the drums, we told stories, we made lots of things, we traded lots of stuff, and there was much love shared.
Thank you so very much Chief BlueCrow Brother and Little Knife for everything. Most especially thank you for opening your Home to the Free Cherokee.
It is with much pride that I announce that the "Passing of Power" Ceremony was done and Chief DesertWolf of the Florida Wolf Clan is our new Principal Chief. Congratulations Chief DesertWolf.
The BEST news I can report from the summer gathering is that Chief BlueCrow Brother is back with us. He is walking with a staff, he is driving around the farm, and he lasted one round with us in the Sweatlodge on Thursday, then he stayed by the door in a chair for the next three rounds. Thank you Creator for answered prayers. He has his old school boy figure back, but other than that, he is still the BlueCrow Brother that all of us have grown to love and respect. He still has that wonderful sense humor!
PreciousFlower came back with the Deer Clan this year and my has she grown! She is walking and still precious, red dirt and all!
Last summer I had grown a very large number of Bowl Gourds at my home and I brought them with me to the gathering, my, my, you should have seen all the beautiful gourd art! There were many beautiful bowls, a couple of baskets, one rattle and one bird house made. I think the honorable mention goes to GrandMother DancingEagle for her eagle basket she made from the gourd. The stem was left on and painted yellow for the eagles beak. It was fabulous!
We drummed and sung Friday night and I actually did one dance round the old fire with my grandson, TwoFeathers. The stories that were told later that night were wonderful! Thank you to all the storytellers! I hope we do this again next gathering.
The Three Spirit Band and the Four Winds Band were very missed. Hopefully, we will see you all this winter in Florida. The winter gathering (sometime in February) will be hosted by our new Principal Chief DesertWolf and the Florida Wolf Clan.
I see good things happening with the Free Cherokee, I see us growing and learning together in love and harmony. It is good! AHO!
Love & Light,
