Gathering 2005

Chief DesertWolf Siyu Brothers and Sisters,

The Gathering was a personal best. Arriving on the Thursday before and not having to leave until the following Saturday was in itself GREAT. We love the land and Butterfly and myself had alot of quiet time our first days there. It was nice to help out with a few small projects, as we all know there is always something to do there if you like to work. I can only take so much quiet.

The Wednesday pipe ceremony was extra special, as the Buffalo/Bear rock was passed , I became Chief of the Free Cherokee. It is a great honor for me to except and it was hard to speak. My spirit was over the top, ranking up there with my vision and path of pipe making.

Thursday was exceptional, as Grandfather Chief Blue Crow Brother came to his first lodge since his accident. He was able to stay for the first round and sit outside in physical form for the remainder for the lodge to enjoy it all. I came out after the second round and joined him. It was a very good lodge with Chief Laughing Otter pouring. Standing Bear has the experience and heats the Grandfathers very well. He was able to go into the lodge for the 3rd and 4th round after carrying in the stones for the 3rd round. I watched the door and brought in the last round. The meal after lodge was excellent, Thank you to all the cooks. (Wado)

On Friday, those who had been working on their pipes finished what they could and the tools were put up. The pipes in progress looked really good. The Friday night trade blanket was fun as always. There was great trading and nice giveaways. Thanks to everyone that participated.

Leaving Saturday morning was sad but necessary. The 10 hour drive home gives us time to think about all that went on there. I hope that I will keep the Free Cherokee on a good walk on the red road. Call, write, email. I'm here.
