Siyu,

Sacred Pipe Brothers and Sisters of the Free Cherokee

There are many names for the pipe, Canupa, Calumet, Chisom and on and on. Either language or form gives it a name. Whatever you call it the pipe is respected and revered by all North American Natives. It started over 3,000 years ago. The earliest form was tubular and from there it progressed. All the Native people of North America use a pipe of some form depending on the situation and region.

French missonary explorer Jacques Marquette wrote about the pipe in the mid 1600's: "There is nothing more mysterious or respected...less honor is paid to the Crowns and Scepters of Kings. It seems to be the god of peace and war, the arbiter of life and death. It has to be but carried on one's person and displayed to enable one to walk through the midst of enemies, who, in the hottest of fight, lay down their arms when it is shown."

The pipe gives us the bond to Creator, Grandmother Earth and Spirit. They speak to us and keep us on a good red road. Many pipes were given through Spirit from Creator. i.e. Buffalo Calf Woman, the Turtle and others.

Receiving knowledge of the pipe from Creator through Spirit, vision or dreams is a great honor. To share this with those who need it is the greatest honor.

The pipe will show you the way and what is to be with guidance from Creator, Grandmother Earth and Spirits of all directions.
