Walk in Beauty

A Native Summer Day

We are thankful for the blessings that have come to us.
Each day is a new beginning.
We greet the dawn with eyes of anticipation
for all that emerges out of the night
which creates the new sight and sounds of daylight.
The sun covers us with its warmth
as the world stirs with quiet new awakenings.

Life stretches its wings -
while smaller creatures dance on still waters
or float between the flowers.

There are messages for the senses
that respond to the deep smell of the earth
arising from the moist dew of green grasses.

A mist gently touches the ground
where the sky and earth now meet
to mingle among the trees and across the fields.

The hills breath new air.

They awaken with long fingers of shadows
cast by the rising red sun.
Life begins to stir in many ways.
Birds beckon on outstretched branches
singing their praises to a new-born day.

The sunlight makes puzzled shapes on the landscape
reaching for the crest of its highest goal,
while deer graze peacefully at the edge of the woods.
A chorus of sound interrupts the silence
with the majesty of its own expected speech
as the rising heat shimmers playfully in the air.

Late after the noon-day sun,
shadows once again reach out to cool the heat of day
and welcome the beautifully painted sky of the setting sun.
All who have risen now listen to the call of the night song.

The wings of night enfold.
It is time to rest and invite the cool shade of darkness-
and await the faintly growing song of another dawn.

Prayerfully, we give thanks for another day of living.
It is all good! And so... it was created that way for us.
